Gas desulphurization at a wastewater treatment plant

Gas Desulphurization of biogas and syngas is necessary to prevent corrosion and SOx emissions. Biogas is produced by fermenting biological waste and is considered one of the most important sources of renewable energy. Both biogas and syngas can contain hydrogen sulphide (H₂S), so gas desulphurization is essential.
Since the Sulfurex directly controls the caustic dosing with its H₂S sensor, the system requires very little time
to adapt to fluctuations in H₂S load. Other advantages of the Sulfurex are the relatively small footprint, efficiency and capacity, easy maintenance, and low operational costs. The projects below were built in Auckland, New Zealand and in Shafdan, Israel. The project in Shafdan area exists of four columns and is the biggest SulfurexBF built for a water treatment plant.

Fuel for a CHP to make electricity

Conventional wastewater treatment systems are focused on efficient removal of polluting components. This is commonly done through aeration and separation of formed biomass from the cleaned water. After treatment the water would be discharged onto surface waters or subsoil irrigation. Introduction of polishing steps after these treatment systems opened up the possibilities to reuse water for either irrigation or even potable water. DMT Environmental Technology also implements these solutions with TurboTec, applying thermal hydrolysis.
